1965 Rickman Metisse Mk III Scrambler
For sale is a 1965 Rickman Metisse Mk III Scrambler continuation built in 2011 by Rickman Motorcycles Ltd. in England (VIN # R4465T). This bike features a 1971 Triumph TR6C 650cc twin engine, fully rebuilt from the crank out with all new internals. The engine (Engine # KG34864) is paired with a new Amal carburetor and a Pazon electronic ignition for reliable performance. The frame kit was purchased directly from Rickman Motorcycles in 2011, and over the course of six years, various parts were sourced to complete the build. Machine work was done by ADB, and the first start and ride occurred in May 2017. It is equipped with Betor 35mm forks, a Honda MR 250 alloy front wheel (21"), and a BSA B50 rear wheel with a new alloy rim and spokes (18"). The bike also features NJB MX shocks for a smooth ride. While the bike has been ridden regularly and is not a showpiece, it remains in excellent condition and is a beautiful example of the iconic Rickman Metisse Mk III. This was the bike to own for scrambles, desert racing, or motocross in the 1960s, renowned for its top-quality build and performance. The Rickman Metisse was legendary for its handling, and even Steve McQueen praised it as the best-handling motorcycle he had ever ridden before switching to a Husky 360 in 1968. The late 60s saw the rise of the two-stroke over the four-stroke, marking the end of an era in motocross racing. For those who have always dreamed of owning a Mk III, this is a unique opportunity to own one in Anchorage. This bike was recently featured on BikeBound. If you search for "Rickman" on their site, you’ll find it showcased in an article.
